The Language School in Kenya offers Spanish language classes in Nairobi. The Spanish courses target professionals and students in colleges and universities.

Spanish Course Overview

General Spanish

Our Spanish Diploma course is modelled on the Salamanca University’s curriculum. Therefore, it conforms to The Common European Reference Framework for Languages (CERFL).

CEFRL is a standard benchmark for foreign languages and so it’s internationally recognized.

We organize individualized / private or small group Spanish classes to meet each learner’s needs.

Furthermore, we factor in your schedule and to have a wonderful experience learning Spanish.

Spanish for Specific Objectives (SOS)

We also offer specialized Spanish language courses for professionals upon request. Therefore this is called “Spanish for Specific Objectives” (SOS).

Such courses include Secretarial Spanish, Business Spanish and Tourism Spanish. Others are Legal Spanish, Medical Spanish, Spanish for diplomacy and international relations etc.

To start with, if you learn Spanish, you’ll want to know about DELE -(Diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language). These are the official titles for Spanish language.

As such, they certify the degree of competence and mastery of the Spanish language. The Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport grants the DELE Diplomas.

Therefore, The Language School of Kenya offers training and conducts internal exams for Spanish. However, the final Spanish exams are offered at the Embassy Spain in Nairobi.

The University of Salamanca in Spain designs the Spanish exams. Consequently, it is in charge of corrections and the final evaluation of all exams.

The Diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE) that we offer are divided into six levels namely:

Levels

LEVEL A1 - BREAKTHROUGH - 120 HRS

This level certifies that you are able to communicate in Spanish language in a basic way. Thus, it deals in situations having to do with immediate needs. These could be everyday practical situations.

LEVEL A2 - WAY STAGE - 120 HRS

Level A2 certifies that you can understand commonly used, everyday phrases and expressions.

These must be related to areas of experience especially relevant to you. They could refer to basic information about yourself, your family, shopping, places of interest, work, etc.

LEVEL B1 - BREAKTHROUGH - 180 HRS

This level certifies your capacity to understand the gist of clear texts, in standard Spanish. This applies if they involve well-known topics related to work, studies or leisure.

AdditionIt also certifies your ability to deal with most situations while traveling in Spanish-speaking areas.

You should be able to produce simple and coherent texts about familiar topics. It could also involve topics of personal interest.

Moreover, you should be able to describe experiences, events, wishes and hopes. Additionally, you should be able to briefly express your opinions or explain your plans.

LEVEL B2 - VANTAGE - 180 HRS

At this level, you should be able to interact with native Spanish speakers. Your interaction should be with a sufficient degree of fluency and spontaneity. This should enable easy and natural communication between interlocutors.

Likewise, you should produce clear and detailed texts about diverse topics. This includes defending an opinion about general topics in Spanish. It also has to do with expressing the pros and cons for each argument.

Lastly, you can understand the gist of complex texts about both concrete and abstract topics. This includes technical texts, provided they are within your area of expertise.

LEVEL C1 - EFFECTIVE OPERATIONAL PROFICIENCY - 200 HRS

You have sufficient linguistic competence to understand a wide variety of lengthy texts. The text could be somewhat demanding. You can as well grasp implicit meaning in the same.

Further, you are to express yourself fluently and spontaneously without apparent effort to find the right words. You can use the language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.

Finally, you can produce clear, well-structured and detailed texts about topics of some complexity. Also, you can correctly use mechanisms of organization, articulation and cohesion in the text.

LEVEL C2 - MASTERY - 200 HRS

The final level C2 certifies that you have sufficient linguistic competence to communicate effectively. Whatever situation, you can prove your ability to spontaneously adapt to any context precisely.

As a result, you can show subtle control of nuances which allow for fluent and natural expression in all interactions in Spanish.

Study Options For Spanish Classes

Firstly, there are several study options for Spanish tailored to your needs and convenience. For example, you may want to learn Spanish in a matter of days or weeks. Still, others are comfortable with a slow paced program. This learning pace entirely depends on you.

Moreover, you can take Immersion Spanish program, which will take 5 weeks each to complete level A1 and A2. So, this is ideal for those who want to settle in a new language and environment soonest.

If you are busy at work, you can take a less intense program. The extensive or standard option, but this will take a little longer to complete one level of Spanish.
